everything you need to know
Hi From us
Here are a few answers to some of the questions you all have been asking...
WHERE ARE YOU TAKING US?
ITALY!
Oh you wanted specific details. Right. SPECIFICALLY we’re taking you to Sicily, and even MORE specifically, Taormina and Noto. Maybe this is your first time venturing out to these beautiful nooks of the world, so allow us to give you some directions.
Let’s start with the airport, because it would be a pretty long swim.
Set your course to Catania Airport (CTA). There aren’t any direct flights from the United States, but we found it most convenient to plan for a connection in Rome. Ever heard of it? Keep in mind that while the Roman Colosseum had very few rules of engagement, many connecting European airlines do. Whether you’re flying EasyJet, Ryanair or ITA, we suggest taking a look at their baggage policies BEFORE packing. Trust us. We found ITA Airways to be the most accommodating.
Okay, you and your luggage made it to the Catania Airport. Ciao! Now what?
The first stop on our Sicilian escapade is the small town of Taormina, about 45 minutes from the airport. Think of Taormina’s town square as, well, a town square. It’s the meeting point for all of our pre-wedding activities here and hosts a handful of hotels within walking distance. We list out a few recommendations for places to stay on our SICILY 101 page! Two days in Taormina (fantastic Instagram caption by the way) and we’re off to…
Noto! For the main event! If you’re just joining us here, Noto is about an hour from the airport. Regardless of your arrival date, we ask that you stay with us at a hotel, nearby to the venue, where we will reserve a block of rooms at a discounted rate. Think of this as…our new town square. All transportation to and from wedding events (including the wedding itself) will run from here. (We will get you more information on this hotel and how to book in the near future.)
And that just about wraps it up! All that’s left to do is…give you even more details.
WILL I NEED TO RENT A CAR?
No need! Vespas only. Just kidding. The only transportation you need to account for is to and from the airport. We recommend Uber, taxi or this recommended car service: https://siracusatransfer.it/en/. All other inter-Sicilian wedding transportation will be provided. From Taormina to Noto and all events in between!
HOW MANY DAYS SHOULD I PLAN FOR MY TRIP?
If you want the full immersive experience, we suggest planning for six days and five nights. But let us break it down for you so you can decide how much fun you want to have…
Festivities don’t kick off until Thursday, May 22nd but we suggest flying in on Wednesday the 21st as most of the flights get in later in the day. Not to mention, you’re gonna want to rest up for this.
Our first welcome event will pop off that Thursday evening in Taormina. We’ll follow that up with a cocktail hour on Friday night (also in Taormina), then take it to Noto for Saturday night dinner. What were we here for again? Oh yeah! The wedding! That’ll be on Sunday in Noto.
Here’s that info again in (less fun) list form:
May 21 - Arrive in Catania (get your butts to Taormina)
May 22 - Welcome Event in Taormina (transportation provided from the town square)
May 23 - Rooftop Drinks in Taormina
May 24 - Shuttle to Noto / Dinner in Noto
May 25 - WEDDING DAY in Noto
Check out the schedule page for EVEN more info on all the events. We would love to see your beautiful faces at every stop along the way, but we understand we’re asking a lot. When you RSVP please let us know which events you are planning on attending so we can properly account for everyone.
WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
1. Passport. One that is NOT about to expire. This one sounds obvious but what’s not obvious is that Italy won’t let you travel within 6 months of an expired passport. So check those expiration dates to avoid any last minute issues. You have officially been warned.
2. Fun Fits! It’s Italy baby! Think of all the Instagram posts you’re gonna be tagged in. Show off your favorite pieces. Think colorful beach formal — check out our style guide for inspiration and more details. For the wedding day, we kindly ask ladies to stay away from dark colors and recommend light linen suits for the men :)
3. *Weather Appropriate* Fun Fits! May temperatures in Sicily run around 73-80° during the day and can dip down to 60° at night. All of our events will take place primarily outside, so make sure to bring clothing that’s comfy for you in those temps. Maybe you run hot, maybe you have low iron. We don’t know, that’s a you thing. Either way, it’s always safe to bring a light jacket or shawl for al fresco evenings.
4. Active Wear! There are plenty of fun things to explore in Taormina and the surrounding areas - cathedrals, beautiful beaches and even a volcano! So whether it’s bathing suits, walking shoes, or professional grade heat resistant jumpsuits, make sure to pack for any potential adventures you might choose!
IS THIS A CHILD FRIENDLY EVENT?
Woah, woah kids? Can we get married first? Oh you meant YOUR kids. We love those little cuties, but because of the strict head count at these venues and limited space on the shuttles, we kindly ask that you leave them at home (or the hotel room) with your sitter. They wouldn’t like spritzes anyway.
DO I NEED A TRAVEL VISA FOR ITALY?
Okay, so none of you may be asking, and honestly we wouldn't have thought to ask either because, as of now, you do not need a visa for Italy. HOWEVER, we just found out during our last trip there, that sometime this year Italy will be implementing a travel visa program that we all must sign up for. There is not much info on it online, because it's not available yet. So when you RSVP be sure to include your email so we can send everyone the information once it becomes available. Also, check the link below for updates on their policies.

flights
catania airport (CTA)
This is where you want your plane to land. There are no direct flights from the United States, but we found it best to fly through Rome for your connection. We’d recommend leaving at least 90 minutes for your layover (or more if you want to hop out and toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain). Taormina is about 45 minutes from the Catania Airport and Noto is about an hour from the airport.
Keep in mind that while the Roman Colosseum had very few rules of engagement, many connecting European airlines do. Whether you’re flying EasyJet, Ryanair or ITA, we suggest taking a look at their baggage policies BEFORE packing. Trust us. We found ITA Airways to be the most accommodating.
hotels
Below we have featured 5 options for hotels in Taormina. Side note: we also now moonlight as travel agents. These are the places that looked the best to us at various price points, however, many of them are small boutique hotels, so not everyone will be able to stay there. Book ‘em while they’re hot! But don’t fret, at the bottom of the page we have a link to a longer list with more options (for those of you who don’t book ‘em while they’re hot).
Allow us to break down the two levels of Taormina - sea level and city level. The City level is where you’ll find the aforementioned town square. It’s where all of our events will take place, and the meeting place for our provided transportation. The Sea level is a bit farther from the city and closer to…the sea. That’s where we’ll be staying. Conveniently, there is a cable car that can take you up to, you guessed it, the city. You can reserve rides on the cable car in advance, or purchase tickets in person.
Wherever you decide to rest your heads in Taormina, please make sure to check out the morning of May 24, as that’s when the wedding caravan will be making its way to Noto for the remainder of the trip.
Remember, Italians are lovely people. Much more forgiving than some of these hotel websites. You will always get the best deal and most flexibility by calling the hotel directly to book your rooms.
**The sixth hotel we have listed below is the hotel in Noto where we’ve reserved a block of rooms for the night before and the night of the wedding (may 24 and 25). These rooms will only be on hold until (date TBD) so you definitely want to reach out and book these while they’re hot.

noto dinner
sat may 24 - dressy, but make it mediterranean
We are treating this night like our rehearsal dinner so think colorful, dressy attire.
Not as dressy as the wedding, but the dressier of the 3 evenings. tease your dressy potential. An air of dressiness. Like 85% dressy... you get it.
wedding day - gals
Sun May 25 - girls, dress to impress
You are the muse. Filter those dress searches for COLOR. The more, the better. Embrace your inner White Lotus.
Please refrain from wearing any dark colors such as black and neutrals.
wedding day - guys
Sun May 25- guys, also dress to impress
You are also the muse. Think to yourself, “what would George Clooney wear to a Sicilian wedding?”
We think Timmy would go with light colors, probably a light linen suit. No tie necessary, but if you’re feeling like it’s a neckwear night, go for it!
